The Feathers, Outbuildings

Residential Project

Hidden off street behind the previously known Feathers pub in North Walsham, two former stables dating back to the 18th century needed attention and care.  Being within the curtilage of the Grade II listed former public house, the outbuildings are listed by association and required careful consideration when being converted to form new dwellings. The outbuildings had fallen into a state of disrepair but still retained some interesting architectural features which have been retained in the design.

The unusual floor plan and existing structure created a challenge when converting these buildings. Working with the conservation officer and structural engineer, the barns were able to be adapted to each form a 2-bed dwelling with open planned living on the ground floor.
